FIU is dedicated to solving Florida's environmental crises
For nearly our entire history, Florida International University has been committed to mitigating the harmful impacts of our changing environment. As Miami’s public research university, we understand the impact of saltwater intrusion, flooding and the threats to people and crops posed by ever-hotter temperatures and increasingly stronger hurricanes.
We have raised more than $400 million in research funding over the past decade to find solutions for the benefit of those in our community and people around the globe. The research of our scientists and students forms the cornerstone of FIU’s designation by the State of Florida as a University of Distinction in Environmental Resilience.
