And certainly overdue. The hold communism has in this country, especially in academia, needs to be challenged. As a college professor I know that it is a real battle, but nevertheless I am prepared to fight it. I am therefore really glad to know that there are people like you out there who might be instrumental in this all important battle and whose help I might enlist. Now I also need a piece of information from you concerning Balint Vazsonyi. I would like to get hold of his 1995 article THE BATTLE FOR AMERICA'S SOUL. Any suggestions? Keep in touch! Date: Tue, 5 May 1998 17:10:16 -0400 From: Barbara Ledeen Re: C-NEWS: Marxism On Trial May I suggest that you ask Prof. Ronald Radosh to give lectures about this subject? He is the author of the definitive book on the guilt of the Rosenbergs, is writing another one now on the Spanish Civil War, has another on the Amerasia case (who lost China) and is recognized as one of our greatest experts on the American Communist party and its collaboration with the Soviets. Another is Eugene Genovese a former communist who wrote an important essay in Dissent magazine a few years ago called, I believe, "What Did We Know and When Did we Know it?" renouncing his affiliations. Michael Ledeen has done major work on the the Italian communists who later became the red brigades and who were trained in terrorist training campsin eastern europe. He also wrote a book last year calling for trials offormer communist government officials like the Nuremberg trials following WWII . Vladimir Bukovsky who spent 17 years in a Soviet psychiatric gulag and who now lives in Oxford would also participate because he too thinks that without trials we have no moral accountability--and we see the effects of that today, don't we? Date: Wed, 6 May 1998 18:36:32 EDT From: GWYNWHYFR Subject: Marx on Trial Dear Sir/Madame: I find this endeavor of yours to be a novel and useful resource for introducing the truth about Marxism into a world fraught with academic types who would like us to believe a great lie -- that Marxism is fundamentally a good idea, and that it could work, if only we were enlightened enough to truly embrace it. Many people do not realize what Marxism espouses, nor do they understand the awful truth about class envy and Communism. I spent one very long month of study in the former Soviet Union, and caused quite a stir when I refused to salute the hammer and sickle. Apparently, the ideology is so ingrained into these poor individuals that they cannot fathom anyone not embracing the same. I am an American citizen, endowed with certain freedoms under that country's Constitution, which was drafted by far-sighted individuals who cherished the right of freedom and humanity in their new little country. Far be it from me to salute the devilish practices that have tried to sap that humanity from our race, and leave a boneyard of languishing souls in its wake. Other American students DID take part in this salute, out of "respect," and it shamed me beyond description to see it happen. How can one dare to show obeisance to an ideology that would enslave them? Especially when they have been blessed so greatly as to have freedom at no cost to them, and rights that were won by the blood of those who would not capitulate to such rubbish! I would rather have a stake put through my heart than shame those valiant memories. Best of luck to you in your endeavor, and may God bless the world with the wisdom to see such wickedness for what it truly is. Sincerely, J.A. Dambach Date: Fri, 22 May 1998 22:18:27EDT From: SCE999 Subject: your anti-communist web site You know I looked at the leters and came to the startling conclosion that you had no communist leters. It seems odd that with so many communist no communist has ever e-mailed your sight. It seems far more likely that you refuse to publish these notes. Odd that the one who suposly beleves in fredom wont publish what he doesnt agree with.I also came to the startling conclusion that not once do you mention what a communist country is and why it doesnt work. Also you say that all communist must follow a dictatorship and that comunism is a set docerin of goverment. As for the first part there is no place they say that communist goverments have to be a dectatorship. As for the second, yes there was a set docerin but eventally even Marx admited much of it had become obsulete. Therefore the only set in stone rule is that of equalty and state ownership. As for the Fasist part they were socilist but did not follow the teachings of Marx because he said that They prolterian divied themselfs up into many groups and bickered among themselfs when the true enemey was the bourgious. So obviously he did not suport this bickering. As for you saying he hates jews that is not true. If you truely beleve that then you should read TOWARDS THE CRETEQUE OF HELEGENS PHLOSPY OF RIGHT By Karl Marx. In it he describes the evil of all religons because they set down rules which must be followed which leads to not thinking for yourself. Also he was not jelous of the Bourgoius he hated them because during his time and are time they caused masive poverty. You can not deny that in a wrold under captilist rule there will be poverty. As long as Bill Gates owns 5 billon dolars we will not do away with the poverty and how do you plan to end that. Or do you think its okay that a couple millon peple starve every day while you eat even more seconds? So much to go into I have hardly touched on the subject. By the end of this ether your going to be communist or im going to be captilist. EIther e-mail me back or more prefrubly im me my name is Sce999. You beter follow threw or i will contiouly heras you intill you finnaly do respound From: "Daniel Mcallion" d.j.mcallion@dundee.ac.uk You're Web site reminded me of a question a woman in a mid-westernAmerican town once asked Gore Vidal : "Firstly, Mr. Vidal, how canpatriotic Americans help defeat Communism, and secondly, what isCommunism?"While there can never be any apology for the murder and brutalitycarried out in the name of socialism by Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and others, who will be rightly be remembered as monsters, anyone with even a cursory knowledge of Marxist thinking can see that in no way could these regimes be described as socialist or communist. While Marx was vehemently against the 'sham morality' of a system thatclaimed to cherish the individual while condemning many to poverty and disenfranchisement, never did he envisage the bureaucratic nightmare o f Stalinism as his model society. As early socialist models such as the Paris Commune and early Soviet democracy show, the idea was to hand power to the majority , to extend democracy as far as possible. Totalalitarianism sought to extend the powers of the state in to everyarea of society whereas classical Marxism called for the opposite, the extension of society into areas at present occupied by the state. In the words of Engels the "administration of things" replacing the "governance of people". While describing the brutality of Stalinist 'communism' it may also be useful to describe the circumstances in which they came into being; The USSR after Western 'liberal' states had sent nearly 20 million of their citizens to their deaths on the Western Front, the PRC after centuries of colonial interference and a savage civil war and the Year Zero in Cambodia after the merciless carpet bombing of Laos and Cambodia by the US and the death of nearly 2 million South East Asians during the American Invasion. You're Panglossian "best of all worlds" is itself a fractured and brutalized society, at war with itself and with a good deal of blood on its hands. If we are to move forward at all we have to dispense with thehysterical, anti-intellectual, historically distorted rhetoric ondisplay at you're site, most of which any Stalinist apparatchik orbrownshirt propagandist would have been proud of. Danny McAllion, Dundee Scotland Subject: Marxism=Nazism? Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 18:43:34 EST From: Caliber44@aol.com I don`t think so. National Socialism, a doctrine inffluenced by others butprimarily created by Hitler and Strausser, was the complete opposite ofMarxist Socialism! According to Marx, workers should have no pride for thiercountry, as all workers worldwide were united as brothers, oppressed by thecapitalists. Marxism was designed for the good of the individual worker, notthe state. Nazism was all about glorification of the state. Although stalinistRussia bears a striking resemblance to Nazi Germany, the official ideologieswere totally different. Hitler was never a student of Marx, and drew noinfluence from Marxist thought. Subject: Terror? Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 18:50:37 EST From: Caliber44@aol.com Didn`t Marx say that the governments of free democracies, such as the UnitedStates and Great Britain, whould not be overthrown by revolution? He proposedusing the electoral process to vote Socialists into the government. Subject: Arguments Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 18:53:13 EST From: Caliber44@aol.com I am probably just as opposed to Communism as you are, but your arguments are flawed, to say the least. Lenin wanted no one to own anything? Subject: You'll never print this. (guess what, we did!) Date: Fri, 04 Jun 1999 15:31:11 -0400 From: "Ben Osborne" benosb@fiberia.com To: yaf@fiu.edu What a cute little web site. I find it very interesting that among all the rhetoric there is extremely little evidence of your opinions being true. I find it very laughable that socialism is being blamed for the poverty and exploitation in the world. I suppose Phil Knight the owner of Nike is a good person for giving Indonesians jobs too. Never mind the fact that these people are trapped in a system that makes white males like you rich. If you believe that throwing a rope to a drowning man and refusing to pull him in is a good policy then keep supporting men like Knight. Are you affiliated with the KKK? If US capitalism is so superior, then why are we the only industrialized nation without free healthcare. Oh that's right, only those with money deserve not to die of preventable illness. If US capitalism is so righteous then why is 1 of 4 children malnourished in America. If US capitalism is so good a system, then why does .5% of the population control 47% of the wealth. Oh wait, let me guess. It's because they worked hard and deserve it. I work at a hospital tissue typing lab and if I mess up people die. I would consider my work extremely important, yet I get paid less than $25,000 a year. Does Phil Knight serve a more important purpose than I? Will people suffer and die if they don't get an infusion of Nike? Usually I don't write to cute little sites like this but this one is extremely amusing. I don't believe I have ever seen such hipocrisy displayed without embarassment. You obviously are fighting for the freedom to exploit the powerless. I don't even necessarily support Marxism, but I'm amazed that someone could have the crazy notion that poverty and exploitation is made possible by the one ideology that strives for true equality. Young Americans for Freedom? More like Young Aryans for Finance.
Well, you obviously have some type of Phil Knight fetish, I on the other hand, never heard of him until I read your message. I would really like to know therefore, why he is so important as to be the basis for your entire philosophical point of view. It is obvious that you do important work in the hospital, but if you feel that your are being underpaid or exploited, you are perfectly free to look for better employment elsewere. That's the beauty of living in a free country, this is something which was never possible for people living under soviet domination, (though the Soviet constitution did guarantee everyone a job, it didn't guarantee it would be one where they could excel or earn a living wage). You mention that one of every four children in the U.S. is malnourished, even if we were to take this at face value (you dont supply a source), try comparing the poverty level, or the standard of living in the U.S. to that of say.... Cuba. The U.S. comes out far ahead. Although Cuba has socialized medicine, the level of medical treatment is appalling unless your name is Fidel Castro, or you're one of his friends. Separate but equal still lives in socialist countries you see. You mention that you'd actually prefer a socialized system which provides free healthcare. Might I suggest then, that you move to Sweden, where free health care is indeed provided, after you give over three quarters of your salary up in taxes. Free rarely means free you see, and I doubt your current salary could sustain you under such circumstances. Lastly, you seem to be rather prejudiced for someone claiming to be enlightened. You assume that only white males could possibly have our viewpoints. Such prejudice is actually commonplace, but is nonetheless a product of a certain degree of ignorance. Since it's founding in 1992, our chapter of YAF has not had a single white male president. For that matter, we haven't had any white presidents at all. The founding president was Puerto Rican, followed by a black Cuban, a female Cuban-Lebanese, followed by me, a Peruvian immigrant who had to learn English as a second language. To the best of my knowledge we've only ever had two white members, thanks for jumping to conclusions though, you help us get our point accross by doing so. In responce to your other question, no we are not affiliated with the KKK. I have the feeling that if the kkk ever took one look at our membership, we might not survive the encounter, because you see, they jump to conclusions almost as easily as you do. Please check back soon so you can see that we actually did print your letter, it's good for people to see the kind of uninformed criticisms we commonly receive
