Qualified juniors and seniors will be invited to apply for membership.  The invitation is typically issued in September in the fall semester, and in February in the Spring semester.  Because processing, ordering certificates, and Chi Epsilon jewelry delivery will take at least five weeks, the applicant must fill out an application form and pay a one-time membership fee before any set deadline.  The candidate, once approved of membership by the Supreme Council, must also participate in the initiation ceremony to become a Chi Epsilon member.  A person who has been approved of membership but has not participated in an initiation ceremony is NOT considered a member.  After each initiation, the chapter must file a report as who are initiated and who are not with the Supreme Council.
