Call to women photographers living in Florida

The Feminist Art Project - Florida (TFAP-FL)** is organizing a juried exhibition of work by women photographers living in Florida.

TFAP-FL believes this will be an important survey of what is happening currently in women’s photography in Florida, as women’s work in this medium has expanded far beyond themes once considered “appropriate” for women
such as portraits, interiors, and floral photography.

We look forward to seeing the best images that Florida’s women photographers have to offer.

The images chosen will be in an exhibition and also included in a limited edition boxed suite available for purchase.

Please submit a disc with up to 10 jpgs of your work. This disk will not be returned. Please write your name and contact information (telephone and address) on the disc. No biographical information is necessary. JPG’s should be 5” x 7” 300 dpi resolution. Subject is open, color or black and white

Please address your submission to:

Deadline is May 5, 2007

Terri Weissman, Ph. D. will be the juror. Each of the 10 artists selected by Dr. Weissman will produce one artist’s proof and 10 additional prints, 13 by 19 inches.

The Feminist Art Project-Florida will offer for sale a box set of the ten prints, in an edition of ten. Each of the boxes will be in the shape of Florida. All proceeds from the sale of these suites beyond cost of production will go to The Feminist Art Project-Florida. The artist’s proofs will be framed (by the gallery) and displayed  in the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery in Miami during September, 2007.

**The Feminist Art Project-Florida (TFAP-FL) is one of several regional organizations that began to form in mid-2006 in order to develop awareness of feminists' contributions to art and to the Feminist Art Movement.
The broad purpose of TFAP, both in Florida and elsewhere, is to bring public attention to feminism's impact on contemporary art practice, on art criticism and on art history, and to encourage attention to feminist art and feminist analyses of cultural production in university curricula.
