DESCRIPTION: Provides adults with the opportunity to complete their high school diploma or GED, acquire basic skills needed for literate functioning, entry level skills in computers and vocational/building trade industry, cosmetology, etc.
OPPORTUNITIES: Tutoring (one-on-one &/or small group--especially for the high school competency test; math, language, and reading skills for ABE.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday - Thursday, between 6:30pm - 9:30pm.
COMMENTS: The best time to reach Ms. Pietranton is between 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Call her to arrange an orientation meeting!

WOMAN'S PLACE-- (MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION), 227 NE 17th St., Miami, FL 33132 (near Burger King & OMNI Mall on Biscayne Blvd.)

DESCRIPTION: A day center for homeless women or near homeless women and families programs for inner city kids.
OPPORTUNITIES: Assist in numerous areas including teaching parenting and health classes, helping with clerical and organizational tasks, mentors, tutors, developing
creative projects--murals, arts & crafts classes, working with children, etc. You must go through a 3-hour training session.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday-Friday, 9a.m. - 5pm.
COMMENTS: Other opportunities include; 1) Hispanic Affairs--Oyentes, charlas, etc. 2) Information and referral, 3) Listeners Program, and 4) Kid's Place. Each program has different requirements and minimum commitments.

OPPORTUNITIES: Train on the Job.
COMMENTS: We need any and all volunteers in many positions. Two orientations a month.
