DESCRIPTION: Works to rescue and rehabilitate injured marine mammals, and do educational outreach programs about marine animals.
OPPORTUNITIES: Help with rescues and rehabilitation, write articles for the MARS newsletter, assist with fundraising efforts, everyday office work, participating in special events in the community, assisting with education programs, and facility development.
HOURS NEEDED: Everyday except Saturday from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
COMMENTS: All students can volunteer with MARS. Training sessions are given and required for work with rescue and rehabilitation. We need volunteers every day to help do the background work necessary to make the rescues and rehabilitation possible.

DESCRITION: MSD ES is a bilingual school of 1400 students. The school is 95% Hispanic, 1% Black, Non-Hispanic, 3% White, Non-Hispanic, and 1% Asian/Indian Multiracial. Our bilingual school organization provides our students with instruction in both English and Spanish. Our mission at MSD ES is to bilingually foster student achievement with respect for historical, cultural, and individual diversities with an emphasis on the preservation of our environment.
OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteers will be working one to one with students, providing them instruction in Reading. They will be exposed to the bilingual school organization and will be able to implement many of the teaching strategies they are being taught at FIU.
HOURS NEEDED: 8:30am - 3:00pm
COMMENTS: This will be a great opportunity for education majors. It will provide tutors a good opportunity to work with children and help them raise their reading levels.

LITTLE HAVANA ACTIVITIES AND NURTIONAL CENTER, 700 SW 8 Street, Miami, FL 33130

DESCRIPTION: A multi-ethnic elderly population at 16 centers in areas with a high concentration of senior citizen in economic or social need.
OPPORTUNITIES: Practice computer skills by entering data, work processing and gathering statically information.
HOURS NEEDED: M-Sunday, 9:00am-8:00pm
COMMENTS: Minimum two hours per week.
