DESCRIPTION: Farm Share is a non-profit food recovery program that
distributes donated fresh fruit and vegetables and canned and dry goods
to low-income families throughout South Florida.
OPPORTUNITIES: Service-learning students are needed to create and
implement nutrition programs, register recipients for the Farm Share program,
pre-pack food for distribution Monday 9-12, distribute food to low-income
recipients Tuesday-Friday 9-2,and help out at food distributions (Wednesday
mornings). Work with commodities office staff, computer knowledge of Microsoft
Word, Access, Excel, and Publisher.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Minimum of 3 hours
weekly and 30 hours per semester required.

FEINBERG

DESCRIPTION: Cool School is a therapeutic after-school program
for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who are at risk for gang involvement. The
program provides academic enhancement, art, computers, recreational and
educational field trips, and individual, group, and family counseling.
OPPORTUNITIES: Spend at least three hours a week (maybe more) working
with children. Assist with homework and playing games. Work one to one
or in a group setting.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3pm - 5:30pm;
Wednesday 2pm - 5:30pm. Service-learners are asked to give one afternoon
a week on a consistent basis.
COMMENTS: This is a great way to help at-risk youth. We are seeking
individuals committed to the welfare of children and who know how important
consistency is for their well being.
FLAMINGO

DESCRIPTION: A botanical garden encompassing 5 different ecosystems
and a 23,000 square foot in flight aviary. There are over 250 birds living
at the gardens each of them too injured to survive in the wild.
OPPORTUNITIES: Animal care, fundraising, garden guides, gift shop
clerk, horticulture, and special events.
HOURS NEEDED: Everyday, 9:30am - 5:00pm
FLORIDAN
