DESCRIPTION: The PRIDE program places volunteers in various "jobs"
within the Department of Environmental Resources Management. The program
strives to expose volunteers to some of the environmental issues facing
the Department.
OPPORTUNITIES: Opportunities vary throughout the year and positions
are based on the needs of the Department.
HOURS NEEDED: Most opportunities are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm;
clean-ups and planting usually occurs on Saturday mornings.DADE HERITAGE

DESCRIPTION: Dedicated to the historic preservation of Miami-Dade
County and its culture. Sponsors many activities such as lectures, tours,
Miami-Dade Heritage Day, educational presentations/projects with schools,
etc.
OPPORTUNITIES: Assist in all areas mentioned above. Also assist
with committee work, community cultural events, event planning.
HOURS NEEDED: Flexible. Some evenings and weekends are available.
COMMENTS: This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested
in historic preservation and Miami-Dade's history.

DESCRIPTION: Collects edible but otherwise wasted food primarily
from the food industry and community food drives, and distributes it to
over 1000 charitable organizations that feed hungry people.
OPPORTUNITIES: Learn about food distribution and helping the needy
in South Florida. Help out with warehouse food salvage & food handling,
clerical/administrative work, grant writing, media contacts, and special
projects.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Long term or short
term is ok, however you must schedule in advance and go in for a minimum
of 2 hours each time.
COMMENTS: Call Ann and arrange an orientation. This food bank distributed
over 15 million pounds of food last year!
