DESCRIPTION: Positive Connections provides emotional, educational, social and holistic support services to the HIV/AIDS infected and affected community, targeting heterosexuals, the newly diagnosed and affected family and friends.
OPPORTUNITIES: Provide assistance in daily operations, program service support at Center's facility, including: data entry, general office duties, donation support, client services, grant writing/research assistance, public relations, web designing, marketing, special events, resource library coordinator, development assistants, volunteer coordinator, graphic design, newsletter staff, massage therapists, child care, personal training, receptionist, and nutritionist.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday through Friday, 12 noon - 8 p.m. Occasional weekend hours due to scheduling of special events and programs. Hours flexible to accommodate students and the working community.
COMMENTS: This Grassroots organization has 1 paid staff member, therefore the role of volunteers is essential to our mission. Duties will be assigned according to skill/training level and availability. Volunteers will be encouraged to develop skills necessary to enhance employability, gain hands on experience and knowledge, and enjoy the intrinsic rewards of helping a community in need.

DESCRIPTION: Provides after school tutorial, homework assistance, and enrichment for 350+ at-risk youth to promote academic success, leadership, and development of social skills. Four sites (Homestead Middle School, Florida City Elementary, Laura Saunders Elementary, and the Andrew Center, a neighborhood center) serve youth, ages 6-18, in the FL City/Homestead area.
OPPORTUNITIES: Serve as a mentor, tutor, role model, and friend; assist with homework, reading, and special activities.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday - Friday, 2:30p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for school sites; Saturday, 9:00am - 1:00pm for music program and special activities.
TRAINING: Orientation and training sessions will be provided before site placement; call to schedule a session.
COMMENTS: In addition to above hours, volunteers are needed on a flexible basis for special events, programs and projects. Schedule may include evening and weekend hours.
