DESCRIPTION: Camillus House has provided humanitarian services to the indigent and homeless populations of Miami-Dade County, Florida for 40 years. Established by the Brothers of the Good Shepherd in 1960, Camillus House has grown steadily over the years from a small overnight shelter into a full service offering a full "continuum of care" for the poor and homeless.
Fully integrated services are provided through multiple program areas:
? Camillus Life Center (intensive substance abuse treatment)
? Camillus Housing Services (emergency, transitional, and permanent housing)
? Camillus Health Concern (health care, mental health, and social services)
? Camillus Emergency Services (food, clothing, and case management services)
? Camillus House/Metatherapy (outreach and housing in South Dade)
? Community Voices/Miami (community -wide health care policy work)
OPPORTUNITIES: Individuals are needed for all areas in hands-on, administrative, and professional capacities; volunteer groups (up to 15 people) are especially needed during the week to serve the afternoon meal.
HOURS NEEDED: Various shifts available between 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and between 8am-1pm on Saturday.
COMMENTS: All prospective individual volunteers must sign-up for an hour-long orientation and interview before starting as a volunteer. Orientations are offered weekly at various times and are open to anyone who wishes to know more about the organization.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI - REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM, 60 East 3rd St., #206, Hialeah, FL 33010

DESCRIPTION: Program welcomes refugees, parolees, and entrants to the United States, orienting them and assisting them achieve economic independence as early as possible. Services include: resettlement, general orientation, Job Readiness class, job placement services, financial assistance, referrals, translations, tutoring, one-on-one employment counseling.
OPPORTUNITIES: 1) Cultural Orientation Aides, 2) employment search support (assistance in filling out job applications, resumes, making phone calls, etc.), 3) English language tutors, 4) translators, 5) office work (clerical), 6) Donations and gifts, 7) Telephone reassurance, 8) Housing database. Bilingual volunteers are especially specially needed!
HOURS NEEDED: Scheduled at agency and volunteer's convenience.
COMMENTS: This is a great opportunity to help recent arrivals, learn about their experiences, and try to help our community with the new entrant's adjustment. Recognition of your volunteer services will be given.

CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES, ANGELICA HOUSE,

DESCRIPTION: Provides a warm shelter for the homeless. The house functions as the maternity section of Catholic Community Services.
OPPORTUNITIES: Needed to tutor the women in GED coursework, caring for infants, and enhancing the physical structure of the shelter through painting and other basic repairs and improvement.
HOURS NEEDED: M-F, 8:30am - 4:30pm
