DESCRIPTION: It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to
serve others by helping to instill values in young people, and other ways
prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving
their full potential. The purpose of scouting is character development,
citizenship training, mental, emotional and physical training.
OPPORTUNITIES: 1) Work with Scout leaders in the enhancement of
their Boy Scout program; i.e., hands on
activities, 2) Assist in the organization of a Scout jamboree, including
our four annual fun days for children with disabilities, 3) Office administration
includes data entry, marketing support development (flyers, invitations,
photo library), and inventory management, 4) Event coordination, 5) Assistance
with accounts and budgeting in a non-profit environment (contact Mr. Rushing
at ext. 2250).
HOURS NEEDED: Hours: office administration support-between 9 am
to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, other hours vary.
COMMENTS: The main office is in Miami Lakes, volunteer opportunities
throughout Dade County.
BROWARD
COUNTY ANIMAL CARE, 1870 SW 39 Street, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33315

DESCRIPTION: Animal care offers cat and dog adoptions, returns
lost pets, and cares for stray animals. The also provide licensing, code
enforcement, looses animals, dead animal pickup, community outreach and
education.
OPPORUNITIES: Lost and found helps reunite lost animals with their
owners. Community education. Kennel aid helps assist kennel staff in care
of animals in the shelter.
HOUR NEEDED: M-Saturday, 8;00am - 5:00pm
BROWARD
COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, 2070 Griffin Road, Ft. Lauderdale FL. 33312

DESCRIPTION: The Humane Society assists in the adoption of animals.
OPPORTUNITIES: Animal feeding, cleaning cages, bathing, grooming,
working with pet adoptions, and customer service.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday - Saturday, 8am - 7pm., Sunday 8am - 6pm.
COMMENTS: Students must work a minimum of 4 hours per week with
a six-month commitment to the shelter.
BROWARD

DESCRIPTION: AIDS service organization providing case management,
education, chemical dependency, homeless outreach, supportive housing,
and an assisted living facility.
OPPORTUNITIES: Buddy/companions to work one on one with clients.
HOUR NEEDED: 7 days a week, 8:30am-9:00pm
