Victim Advocacy Center


The Victim Advocacy Center will assist FIU students, faculty, staff, and visitors who are victims of actual or threatened violence, including but not limited to: assault, battery, relationship violence, sexual battery, and stalking. Advocates are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Victim services include:

  • Crisis intervention counseling
  • Advocacy
  • Referrals
  • Accompaniment to medical facilities and appointments
  • Helping the victim go through the criminal justice process
  • Educational programming

The role of an advocate is to provide options, but never to give advice. This role is consistent with the standards for crisis intervention and social work. Police reports are NOT required for referral assistance.

The Victim Advocacy Center is located in the University Health Services Complex(UHSC)Room 210 and can be reached by calling (305)348-1215. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays 8:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. at the University Park Campus and by appointment at the Biscayne Bay Campus.
