Message from the Chair

As Chairperson and Artistic Director of FIU THEATRE, I welcome you to our webpage.  We invite you to
explore the resources our program provides.

We offer both BA and BFA degrees in Theatre and students may focus on Acting, Costume Design,
Set and Lighting Design, or Technical Theatre. We have a broad curriculum taught by experienced
 faculty who continue to work professionally as actors, directors, designers, and playwrights.

FIU THEATRE presents a Mainstage Season of four shows each year, as well as Second Stage
and Student Theatre Lab productions. Our New Plays Festival features work written , directed,
and performed by students.  There are also numerous special performances of senior projects,
directing class projects, and work from acting classes. The Alternate Theatre Project produces
Faculty - and Student -initiated productions in the Summer.

FIU THEATRE participates in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Students also
compete in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition as well as playwriting and design competitions.  We
also send our students out to learn about Theatre nationally at USITT and other conferences. 

We are proud of our accomplishments but they would mean nothing without a commitment to the development of each student.
