The University started the process of welcoming new students who will begin their FIU experience in summer or fall. The Orientation Office, a part of the Division of Student Affairs, is responsible for coordinating a variety of sessions for both new freshmen and transfer students. The Freshman Orientation program is a 2-day overnight program, which offers students the opportunity to experience on-campus living and time to get to know staff and current students in a more informal environment. Students will stay in the Lakeview South Residence Hall at University Park Campus and Bay Vista Housing at Biscayne Bay Campus.
The Transfer Orientation program is a 1-day program designed to cater to each student’s specific major requirements. Students are required to register for an Orientation at the appropriate campus and on the corresponding date that their College/School is listed.
The Orientation Peer Advisors are a group of enthusiastic and responsible undergraduate students, who are selected and trained extensively to assist with all new student orientation programs throughout the year. In this capacity, they serve as resources for new students and their parents; they also help staff with planning and implementation of the Orientation Programs. Peer Advisors prove a valuable service to the University, so we thank them for their service.
