The Division of Student Affairs, along with the Student Affairs Graduate Association (SAGA) and the College of Education recently co-hosted the Graduate Student Symposium, an annual event designed to recognize the accomplishments of students graduating in the Master’s in Higher Education program. The event was planned by a student committee. All students who graduated from the program this past semester were recognized. Numerous students also received recognition for their service to SAGA, an organization that supports the educational and professional interests of students in the enrolled in the Higher Education graduate program. Four students were also selected to present research they had completed this past year. The students selected included: Sally Gates, Franklin Soares, Franklin McCune and Roseline Talfort. Each gave an outstanding presentation. Retiring faculty member Dr. Janice Sandiford was also recognized by the students, for her years of service and her teaching and mentoring of numerous students in the Higher Education program.
The Master of Science in Higher Education Administration prepares graduates to serve in a variety of roles at colleges and universities and related institutions. The academic program is run as part of a partnership between FIU’s Division of Student Affairs and the College of Education.
