The Atlantic hurricane season officially began June 1 and goes until November 30. The Office of Emergency Management of the University is charged with planning for the potential threat of a hurricane, among other emergencies, which may impact the University. The mission of the Office of Emergency Management is to work to mitigate, plan and prepare for emergencies; educate the FIU community about preparedness; coordinate emergency response and recovery efforts and collect and disseminate critical information. Inherent in their mission is the continued operation of our University.
Students and staff are encouraged to visit the OEM website, for valuable resources and information pertinent to personal and departmental planning for hurricane season. The website contains information about emergency supplies, personal planning, on-campus sheltering operations, community resources, University response procedures, and more.
