Approximately four hundred students and faculty members attended the 10th Dean’s List Gala on the University Park Campus March 3rd. The annual event, planned by the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), invited all students currently living on campus who earned Dean’s List honors in 2007. “We invited more students than ever before, and we almost didn’t have room for everyone who showed-up,” said Joe Mattachione, Director of Residential Life. Attendees enjoyed a formal dinner in a Graham Center Ballroom, a guest speaker, recognition of their achievement, and a professional photo with their faculty mentor.
The Dean’s List Gala does more than recognize students’ academic achievement; it celebrates the relationship between students and professors that leads to success in the classroom. Students are encouraged to invite one faculty member to join them. The faculty in attendance were recognized by Dr. Rosa Jones, Vice President for Student Affairs and Undergraduate Education, who acknowledged professors’ outstanding work with students and gave special recognition to those who have been invited by students multiple years.
“This is a really great event. You can tell that students and the faculty are honored to be here. I’m glad to be a part of it.” Said Joey Sammons, Assistant Director of Residential Life and the evening’s guest speaker.
