The graph below shows SUS funding per FTE over the period July 1981 - June 2006, adjusted for inflation using the Consumer Price Index. As you can see (as of July 2006) per student Florida state funding for higher education (general revenue + lottery + trust funds = blue line) is at a 25 year low, while student costs (tuition + fees = red line) has more than doubled. Following up on President Maidique's observation about recent Florida governors support for higher ed, I added the governors for the 25 year period.
