This series of Precolumbian designs were inspired by textiles and ceramics of ancient Peruvians. Although they were master builders in stone, exceptional weavers and ceramicists, they did not know the written word. Their ideas, religious beliefs, and daily activities were depicted through the intricate techniques of their extremely beautiful textiles and ceramics.
Each card features a popular poem from the Quechua language, which has been translated into English and Spanish. The artist, Ms. Aida Burela, was born in Lima, Perú. She has studied in several international art schools and currently works in her hometown, Barcelona (Spain), and Washington, D.C.
