My
graduate study in Statistics at FIU was a challenging but very interesting
experience. When I entered the program, I had taught mathematics for few years
in MDC and BCC, but through encountering increasing applications of data
analysis in the college curriculum I decided to learn statistics and found it
fascinating. This subject has very close connections to any area of human life.
I felt that learning statistics could
help me as a teacher to change my thinking, reasoning, and teaching practices
toward a more student-oriented approach. It was a great pleasure to have such wonderful
professors: Dr. Brain, Dr. Mi, Dr. Zahidi, Dr. Kibria, and Dr. Chen, just to
name a few. Besides giving me statistical knowledge, they broadened my horizons
and provided me with a vibrant fresh outlook on modern science. I graduated in 2002, earning 55 graduate credits in
Statistics and Mathematics. I recreated myself, gaining a new outlook on life
through the hard work of study and training. Now I have a strong feeling of
satisfaction when I share my professional experience and statistical knowledge with
students. I am inspired to strive toward
excellence in my educational service.
