Mary Helen Hayden, Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Program Coordinator
MSW, Florida State University, ACSW, LCSW.

Professor Hayden earned a M.S.W. from Florida State University and participated in post graduate studies in community counseling at the University of Miami. As an Assistant Professor and BSW Program Coordinator for FIU, Professor Hayden teaches courses concerning individual, family and groups self-awareness as well as field unit integrative seminars. As Chair of FIU's Curriculum Committee, Professor Hayden also develops and revises courses. In the course of her career, she has served as a trainer and is now a Member for the Training Subcommittee for the Florida Field Instructors Consortium. Since 1977, Professor Hayden has also served as a consultant and trainer to a number of University committees and research projects such as the Center on Aging, the HEW Child Welfare Training Grant and the Area-wide Agency on Aging Workshops. She has dedicated her career to issues affecting children, the elderly and those affected by substance abuse and was given a Recognition/Appreciation Award from the Student Social Work Association and Phi Alpha Honor Society. Apart from FIU. Professor Hayden has served as a consultant for a number of agencies including the Drug Dependence Institute at Yale University, the Institute for the Study of Aging at the University of Miami and NIDA Southeast and Southwest Regional Training Center.
