The Senate Speaker is trusted with the responsibility of leading the senate. He sits and presides over senate meetings. In addition, he ensures that the senate is fulfilling its duty of representing the interest of the student body to the FIU administration, locally, statewide, nationally and internationally. The Speaker of the Senate serves as one of five SGC-UP members on the University Wide Budget Committee.

This year’s Speaker has been involved in SGA since his first day on campus. He empowered to join after hearing from the President and Vice-President, Alex Prado and Christine Denton, during the orientation session he attended. He signed up for the intern program on that day with hope of ameliorating student life on campus. Three years later, his experience in SGA has surpassed his expectations. In addition serving as the Speaker of the Senate, he also serves as a Senator for the College of Business Administration.
