* To all SEA Members: Notify us if you would like to attend any of the above leadership seminars and make sure you let them know you are an SEA member when you attend.*

*No signing up in advance is required for SEA events*

SEA Events: SEA holds about sixteen events each semester to improve the environmental conditions on campus. We build relationships with environmentally concerned faculty, and ask them to offer extra credit to their students for attending our events. We use our events to relate some of the theory students learn in class to the reality of man's existence in the natural world. Each semester, SEA works with over six hundred students, teaching them the issues involved, the concepts implemented, and the results expected at our events. Active SEA members usually help manage events by working with a group of untrained students. If you'd like more information on offering extra credit to your students, or getting extra credit offered in your class, you may contact us at sea@fiu.edu.

SEA Preserve Days: This semester, SEA will be working on several projects related to the preserve. On our Preserve Days, we will be "cleaning up" the nature trails by removing overgrown vegetation on the trails and replacing trail markers. We will also be pulling exotic species and planting natives. You won't get wet at the preserve, but you'll definitely get dirty and sweaty! SEA has a limited (very limited) number of tools for volunteers. You'll need water to drink, gardening gloves, and should bring a rake or a shovel. We will meet at the northeast entrance of the preserve (click here for map) . For more information on the preserve and other preserve-related projects, see our preserve page.

SEA Lake Days: SEA needs your help in maintaining our lakes without harmful chemicals. We want to show the university how easy it is to manage a lake using biological concepts! We are currently working on two lakes. Hennington Pond (located by the 8 street entrance to campus), and GPA Pond (across from Golden Panther Arena). YES, you will be going in the water! You must wear old work clothes and shoes you don't care about. You cannot go in the water (and therefore cannot get credit) if you do not have shoes to protect your feet from the rocky bottom. Also, bring water to drink, a change of clothes and a towel. SEA has a limited (very limited) number of tools for volunteers, so bring rakes, milk crates (yes, milk crates) and gloves if your hands are fragile. If we do not have enough tools for everyone, then we will not be able to allow "unarmed" volunteers to stay for credit! Expect to get very wet and muddy. Hennington Pond is just west of the 8th Street entrance, across from parking lot #10 (click here for map). **WARNING**Do not park in the information booth "round-about" as the school will happily tow (and fine) you!**WARNING**

SEA Meetings: Come join us at our monthly gatherings! We discuss the progress of our current projects and events, ideas for future activities, how we'd rule the world if given the opportunity, and whatever issues are of interest in the news. It's not too formal, we don't wear wigs or anything. Bring along a friend who shares concern for the environment. SEA always welcomes new ideas and fresh thinking. Our organization is about ACTION. That means we need to be motivated. We get our drive form the new faces that sneak into our meetings all the time. It's great to see a continuous curiosity in our organization. That's what defines SEA as a true "doer" at FIU.

Notices to students who want extra credit: SEA events have separate sign up sheets for volunteers from biology and other classes. To avoid mix-ups, make sure you sign in on the right sheet! SEA events are capped (maximum people allowed to attend) at forty (40) people per event to protect the land and allow us to properly manage the event. You must sign in (before) and sign out (after) at each event to have your name included in the attendance sheet sent to your instructor. At the event, all you need to do is sign in and sign out; however, your instructor may require you to fill out other forms to "apply" for extra credit. SEA is only responsible for events and their accompanying sign-up sheets. We answer any and all questions about events, not extra credit. SEA does not allow volunteers to sign in more than ten minutes after scheduled start time of events. SEA suggests you arrive five to ten minutes early for events to better your odds of making the list. SEA also suggests you attend events early in the semester, as the final events always max out before the event even starts!
