Two types of hearings are provided by the Student Code, formal and informal.

(a) Formal Hearings
  1. Require the hearing body to call appropriate witnesses to provide information in support of the charges.
  2. Will be held at least five (5) business days after notice is received by the charged student.
  3. Allow the presence of an advisor.
  4. Will be tape recorded. The recording will serve as the only official record of the proceedings.  No other recordings are permitted.
  5. A formal decision letter will be sent to the student within fourteen (14) business days from the conclusion of the hearing body’s deliberation.
(b) Informal Hearings

Informal Hearings are for students choosing to accept responsibility for the alleged charge as presented.
  1. Will not be tape-recorded.
  2. Written decisions  will serve as the official records of informal hearings and will be sent to the student within fourteen (14) business days from the conclusion of the hearing body’s deliberation.
(c) All hearings are conducted in private.
