Group psychotherapy is a viable and powerful treatment modality where students are provided with the opportunity to address the interpersonal aspects of their personal difficulties. The group therapy program at the Counseling and Psychological Services Center was implemented in August of 2006 to further address the treatment needs of our student population as well as increase the availability of our services to a larger number of students. The group therapy setting provides students with the opportunity to relate to other students and promotes a sense of universality. This therapeutic factor aids retention in that it promotes students to experience a connection with the university community. Group we have offreed have included interpersonal process groups, students with social phobia, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered students, and one group for graduate students.
To Learn more about these or any other services we offer, please call us at 305.348.2434 or come in to the Center located at at UHSC 270.
