David K. Twigg, Interim Director, Jack D. Gordon Institute of Public Policy and Citizenship Studies (Ph.D., FIU); American Politics, Public Policy, Caribbean Politics.

David Twigg received a B.A. in Government from Florida Southern College (1972) and a Master of Science in Management, with a concentration in Public Administration, at FIU (1973). He held progressively responsible positions in local south Florida governments from 1974 to 1998, including working with the administration of various federally funded programs in the areas of substance abuse rehabilitation (from National Institute for Drug Abuse - NIDA, National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism - NIAAA, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration -LEAA) and employment training (from Department of Labor – DOL, and Department of Health and Human Services – DHHS). In 2004 he completed a Ph.D. in Political Science at FIU, with a dissertation entitled The Winds of Change? Exploring Political Effects of Hurricane Andrew. He has served as Adjunct Instructor in Political Science at Miami Dade College InterAmerican Campus and Barry University, Adjunct Instructor in Public Administration and in Political Science and Visiting Lecturer in Political Science at FIU, and joined the Gordon Institute as Associate Director in January 2007. He teaches courses in American Government, The Presidency, Political Parties, Legislative Processes and Politics of the Caribbean. Dr. Twigg enjoys camping, hiking, canoeing and the outdoors in general. He served as Scoutmaster of a local Boy Scout troop, Associate Advisor of a coeducational high adventure Explorer post, and is a member of the Florida Trail Association, among other volunteer and professional organizations. .
