| The first question that many people
ask is, "What is rush?" Rush is the period when fraternities open their
doors to all men who are interested in Greek life. During this period the
members of a fraternity get to meet those interested in sharing the experiences
they have had in the Greek system, and vice versa.
A lot of people are usually interested
in going Greek, but are turned away by the animal house "frat boy" stereotype.
We here at Pi Kappa Phi try to overcome that stereotype by doing things
to show people that we are a serious organization created not just to party
and socialize (which we do plenty of), but also to give back to the community,
make a positive impression upon the FIU campus, and most importantly,
make our members' college experiences the best they can possibly have.
You already have friends at FIU?
Who needs a fraternity? Well, as the old cliche goes, "Joining a fraternity
is like buying your friends," right? Not true at Pi Kappa Phi.
The chapter is not here just to promote brotherhood and friendship, but
also to serve as an avenue for students to meet people with similar interests
and become more involved in campus activities. We are currently FIU's
reigning Fraternity of the Year, have the SGA President, IFC President,
Peer Advisors, Resident Assistants, members involves in nearly every club
and honor society on campus, and have had a brother ride a bike across
the country on the Journey of Hope raising money and awareness for people
with disabilities.
We are a fraternity of CLASS, striving
to live by the tenets of Character, Leadership, Academics, Sportsmanship,
and Service. Still not convinced?
Fraternity members make up 2% of
the population, yet they make up:
-80% of the
top executives in Fortune 500
-71% of the
men listed in Who's Who in America
-76% of the
current US Senators and Congressmen
-43 out of 50
CEO's of the largest corporations
-40 of the 47
Supreme Court Justices since 1910
-100 of the
158 cabinet members since 1900
-All but 3 United
States Presidents since 1825
-All but 2 United
States Vice Presidents since 1825
-Higher GPA
and greater graduation rate than the all male
average across America. |
