Guiding Goals
The Professional Development Center at Florida International University has identified guiding goals such as:
The provision of quality, competency-based training that enhances the professional development of Family Safety staff and the child protection community at large. The provision of professional services to Family Safety staff that address identified needs in the form of direct training, technical assistance, coaching, and case consultation. The development of relevant in-service training for all child protection staff that is directly responsive to the priority needs of the Department of Children and Families and the individual districts. The involvement of subject matter experts, supervisors, and managers in training delivery in order to enhance the relevancy and applicability of training and to build on the university/public partnership. The development of an effective network of field instructional staff that provides a connection between classroom training and best practice in the field experience. The delivery of relevant symposia and workshops targeted to child protection workers and service providers within the catchment area.
