Lattice Boltzmann Methods
-In the past two decades computing capabilities have allowed scientists to further explore and validate the long existing expectations of the ability of LBM to model fluid flow in various configurations, including complex boundary conditions that have continually impeded obtaining complete knowledge of a flow field in a system. -Under the direction of Mike Sukop, Ph.D at the LBM simulation lab in the Earth Sciences department at FIU, current research includes single-component single-phase and multi-phase, multi-component multi-phase, solute transport, convection, and concentration dispersion; with a strong focus on the coastal salt water intrusion of the South Florida Biscayne Aquifer system. |
