Undergraduate Program in Organ Performance
Audition Requirements
All organ majors and principals are required to perform an audition for acceptance into the Organ Program. The results of this audition will determine the specific entry level in applied music and scholarship recommendation. Memorized auditions are encouraged but not required.
Students with little or no formal organ training may elect to audition on piano. Personal or videotaped auditions accepted.
I. Technique
A. All major and harmonic minor scales and arpeggios, four octaves (piano.) Pedal scales as requested.
II. Repertoire
Three works of contrasting style and tempi, one by J.S. Bach.
III. Sight-reading
The applicant will be asked to sight read a simple homophonic pieces in close position.
Graduate Program in Organ Performance
Entrance Requirements
I. Bachelor of Music degree in Organ performance or its demonstrated equivalent.
II. 3.0 Grade Point Average during last two years of study.
III. Successful interview and audition.
Audition Requirements
I. A prepared program of no more than 30 minutes, preferably memorized including a major work of J.S. Bach (Free Work or Trio Sonata,) and two other works of contrasting styles and periods (one lyrical and one virtuosic.)
