The brass chamber music experience at FIU is designed to help students further their skills on their instrument, develop awareness of musicality, learn about the importance of chamber ensemble playing and experience a variety of chamber music repertoire written for brass. Generally, each player is playing a separate part from the other members of the group, creating an almost solo approach to performing, within the context of an ensemble. This class, along with the performance opportunities presented throughout the semester, builds and reinforces student’s confidence, musicianship and widens their musical spectrum.
The size of each group is based on available instrumentation and playing levels of the students. Following an audition, students are placed together in ensembles that include brass trios, quartets quintets and sextets.
