Dun & Bradstreet's Private Companies database;   available through: Mergent Online via Mergent Online	Current	Although basically a directory of 1.5 million private companies worldwide, it does include some financial data about the companies, at times even a basic balance sheet.  All data is based on information provided by the companies themselves, their business partners, and their competitors.  In Mergent Online, click the box to "include private companies."      [caajag]

Worldwide Mergers & Acquisitions:  SDC Platinum via SDC/Thomson Financial Use on selected computers in the ERC, 2nd Floor, Green Library	US: 1979-last year Intl: 1985-last year	This is a CD database run on the Library's internal network, so it must be used within the ERC on 2nd floor, Green Library.  Covers both public and private transactions involving at least 5% of the company value (prior to 1993, value must => $1mm.)  Transactions include, mergers, acquistions, LBOs, stake purchases, tender offers, stock swaps, privatizations, spinoffs, etc.  Searchable data factors includes over 1,400 data elements.     An instruction guide is available:  Worldwide Mergers & Acquisitions Instructions      [caaiba]  .     This is a CD database run on the Library's LAN.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission   via SEC	Check URL date	The U.S. federal agency which regulates securities and their exchanges.  This site also provides investor information.      [caaiaj]    -    EDGAR  The EDGAR database was a collection of reports made to the SEC by publicly-owned companies in the United States since the late 1980's through 2008.   -    Interactive Data Electronic Applications (IDEA)    The replacement for EDGAR, with limited data.

European Central Bank   via ECB	(check url date)	"The ECB is the central bank for Europe's single currency, the euro. The ECB’s main task is to maintain the euro's purchasing power and thus price stability in the euro area. The euro area comprises the 15 European Union countries that have introduced the euro since 1999. "   "The Eurosystem comprises the ECB and the NCBs of those countries that have adopted the euro.
