Mission Statement
The mission is to supply the South Florida region, where
tourism and international trade constitute the basis of the
economy, with professionals fluent in the language, culture,
and literature of the Portuguese-speaking world. Graduates
of the program are ready to enter Portuguese graduate
programs, teach at elementary or high school levels or work
in hospitality and international business. Additionally, we
have the mission of equipping students with linguistic and
cultural competencies that can be a vital supplement and
complement to a second major, affording them broader
professional horizons and making them more competitive in
the globalized market.
