I believe it is nonsensical to criminalize entheogenic plants and animals because of the compounds they contain, but this is our current policy. As for the nootropics, in most cases the FDA does not prevent their usage, but does force manufacturers not to make 'medical' claims that they enhance vitality, intelligence, or concentration, or fight the effects of aging.
