Episcopate. Elected titular archbishop of Anazarbo and appointed coadjutor, with right of succession, of the metropolitan and primatial see of Constantinople of the Armenians, June 7, 1842. Consecrated, June 19, 1842, Rome, by Cardinal Giacomo Filippo Fransoni. Succeeded to the metropolitan and primatial see of Constantinople of the Armenians, August 2, 1846. Assistant at Pontifical Throne, February 15, 1859. Became patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenians when his see was abolished and the patriarchate established (with residence in Constantinople), July 12, 1867. Elected by the Armenian Synod, September 14, 1866. Took the name Andon Bedros IX.
Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest in the consistory of December 13, 1880; received red hat and title of Ss. Vitale, Gervasio e Protasio, December 16, 1880. Resigned patriarchate, June 1881.
