Birth. October 10, 1650, Bologna. Of a patrician family. Count of Liano. Son of Palatine Count Marcantonio Gozzadini and Ginevra Leoni. Distant cousin of Cardinal Marcantonio Gozzadini (1621).

Education. University of Bologna, Bologna (doctorate in canon law, 1670; in civil law, 1674).

Early life. Page in the court of Tuscany, 1658. Magistrate of degli Anziani, 1673. Canon theologian of the cathedral chapter of Bologna, 1673-1693. Professor of law at the University of Bologna, 1674-1694. Went to Rome in 1693. Canon of the chapter of the patriarchal Vatican basilica, 1691. Consistorial lawyer. Secretary of Memorials, December 24, 1695. Secretary of Briefs to the Princes, August 3, 1697. Canon beneficiato of San Biagio di Sala and of San Martino di Pedriolo, 1698.

Sacred orders. (No information found).

Episcopate. Elected titular archbishop of Teodosia, September 8, 1700. Consecrated, September 12, 1700, Rome, by Cardinal Bandino Panciatici. Confirmed as Secretary of Briefs to the Princes by the new Pope Clement XI, December 7, 1700. Assistant at the Pontifical Throne, December 8, 1700.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest in the consistory of April 15, 1709; received the red hat and the title of S. Croce in Gerusalemme, June 19, 1709. Commendatario of the church of San Lazzaro, next to Piacenza, 1709. Transferred to the see of Imola, with personal title of archbishop, February 19, 1710. Legate in Romagna, November 27, 1713 until April 1717. Legate a latere to represent the pope at the wedding, by power, of King Felipe IV of Spain and Princess Isabella Farnese of Parma, August 20, 1714. Participated in the conclave of 1721, which elected Pope Innocent XIII. Participated in the conclave of 1724, which elected Pope Benedict XIII.

Death. March 20, 1728, of an apoplexy, Imola. Exposed in the cathedral of Imola, and buried there according to his will.

Birth. February 10, 1660, Parma. Of an ancient and illustrious family. Count of Fontanellato. Son of Luigi Sanvitale, count of Fontanellato, of Belforte and of Noceto and Margherita Talenti Fiorenza of the marquises of Conturbia.

Education. University of Parma, Parma (doctorate in utroque iure, both canon and civil law).

Early life. Voter of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature. Consultor of the Supreme S.C. of the Holy Office. Referendary of the Supreme Tribunals of Justice and of Grace, December 24, 1695. Canon of the chapter of the patriarchal Vatican basilica in the pontificate of Pope Innocent XI.

Priesthood. Ordained, December 27, 1699. Vice-legate in Avignon, March 15, 1700.

Episcopate. Elected titular archbishop of Efeso, July 16, 1703. Consecrated (no information found). Assistant at the Pontifical Throne, August 15, 1703. Nuncio in Tuscany, August 15, 1703. Assessor of the Supreme S.C. of the Roman and Universal Inquisition, 1706. Prefect of the Cubiculi of His Holiness, November 1, 1707. Transferred to metropolitan see of Urbino, May 6, 1709.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal and reserved in pectore in the consistory of April 15, 1709; published in the consistory of July 22, 1709; received the red hat and the title of S. Pietro in Montorio, September 9, 1709.

Death. December 17, 1714, at 7 p.m., Urbino. Exposed and buried in the metropolitan cathedral of Urbino.
