About us
The Middle East Society (MES) is
a component of Florida International University’s Department of
International Relations and
Geography. Its mission is to foster a long-term
partnership with the local community through lively debate and discussion
about matters concerning the Middle East.
We hope you will join us this
year and become a full member. By becoming a member you are creating a
unique opportunity
for your community to help shape the debate on matters
concerning the Middle East as well as support the general
programming of the
Department of International Relations and Geography.
Geographically the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus is already an integral part of
the community, and with this effort we will secure
that the university also
becomes a center for debate and learning on matters that this community
cares most about.
Through lectures and other events, we will
present a balanced view of a variety of issues related to the Middle East–ancient
and modern history, politics and economics, U.S. and international
policies toward the region, art and culture, and current
events.
Sincerely,
