Ford F-250 4x4 6.0L turbo-diesel truck with 4-door extended cab and camper shell on truck bed is available for boat towing; truck charge: $40 per day (no mileage fees)


  • Graduate student boat operators must have passed the MOCC and/or Coast Guard Auxilliary boating corse and be approved by the Acting Boat Captain or must recruit an approved boat operator for field trips
  • For diving operations, an additional boat operator must remain aboard at all times. FIU Diving and boating safety rules must be obeyed at all times. See FIU EH&S Dive and Boat Safety
  • Boats/truck must be returned fully re-fueled. Only in exceptional cases where re-fueling was not possible shall the Acting Boat Captain be informed upon return to port. The Acting Boat Captain will, in these cases, re-fuel vehicles and charge for fuel costs in addition to boat/truck charges. Fueling can done at BBC Vehicle Services, via the automated fuel pumps
  • All incidences, losses, damages must be reported to the Acting Boat Captain immediately upon return to shore. During off-hours and weekends, use provided cell phone number
  • All boats/trucks must be returned cleaned, any debris removed, and boats washed down with freshwater. Failure will result in ban from future use
  • Boat keys must be checked back with Acting Boat Captain the morning after return latest

  • Boat and truck use should be scheduled as early as possible
  • Check boat/truck availablity on online schedule before requesting your reservation
  • Make reservations by email to Acting Boat Captain
  • At time of reservation, provide (1) user name; (2) name of academic supervisor (if graduate student); (3) PantherSoft department or project ID number to which boat costs shall be charged; (4) Date and time of planned use; (5) purpose and destination of travel
  • A float plan must be submitted to the Acting Boat Captain at least one day prior to boat use
  • Boat keys/boat boxes shall be checked out the day prior to boat operation; for weekend operation, checkout will be on Friday
  • Boat charges will be invoiced at the end of each month
