The purpose of the MBRS Support of Continuous
Research Excellence (SCORE) Program is to assist biomedical research
faculty at minority - serving institutions to develop competitive research
programs, and to increase the number of underrepresented minorities
professionally engaged in biomedical research. This is achieved by
providing financial assistance to competitively chosen research programs
in all areas of biomedical and behavioral research.
A student
participating in these programs must be a citizen or a non - citizen
national of the
United
States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
A non - citizen national is a person who, although not a citizen of
the United States, owes permanent allegiance to the U.S. They
are generally persons born in lands that are not States, but are
under U.S. sovereignty, jurisdiction FIU full-time students seeking
degrees in science or engineering, with a GPA of 3.0 or better are
invited to apply to the program. U.S. citizen or resident
alien applicants should complete the MBRS SCORE application and
submit a copy of their complete transcript to the program
coordinator or participating MBRS SCORE faculty member.
Students work as technicians under a SCORE research project.
