The Presidential Seminar Series 2001 Committee

As part of this series and Distinguished Departmental Seminar Series hosted Dr. Gunther Stent, Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, Member of the National Academy of Sciences and The Editor of THE DOUBLE HELIX by Jim Watson. He delivered two talks titled:

1. Origins of molecular biology: Looking for "other laws of physics"
2. Consciousness: The last great unsolved biological problems

With the help of The Graduate Students Association, The Women's Center and The Women's Studies Program hosted Dr. Martha Howe, Van Vleet Professor and the current President of The American Society for Microbiology.
