Elena Cruz Library Technical Assistant Supervisor in Circulation is Employee of the Month for June.

Ms Cruz is the Evening Supervisor at University Park and has the responsibility for closing the library Sunday through Thursday Evenings. Aside from OPS, she is the only staff member on duty most evenings after 10 pm. During special exam hours, her watch can indeed be a late one.

Elena is a graduate of Barry University with a major in English and is currently working on her Master's in English at FIU.

Ms Cruz joined our staff in March 1996, during a difficult phase of building construction when we were experiencing serious water leaks. She has always been conscientious and diligent in reporting building problems to FIU and, when necessary directly to Turner Construction.

Beverly Paden, Elena's supervisor, confirms that Ms Cruz is a valued employee. In Beverly's words, "She takes her responsibilities very seriously. She's bright, energetic, and has an excellent rapport with staff and students.
