MEMORANDUM TO: Committee on Merit and Evaluation FROM: Laurence Miller Executive Director of Libraries RE: Charge. DATE: October 27, 1998 The function of this committee will be the following: 1. Review the merit process - forms, procedures, and criteria, and in consultation with professional staff, make recommendations to the library and university administrations on the form and conduct of merit evaluation during 1999 and subsequently. 2. Review performance evaluation instruments (the MBO form). 3. Develop a general performance evaluation form that relates to the merit criteria and to library goals and objectives. The above will be conducted within University guidelines. Tony Downs, liaison for personnel to Academic Affairs, will be resource person for this. I would like to have the recommendations of the committee, following appropriate consultation, by the end of the calendar year.
