Membership to this fund is $300 and your name will appear on a Donor Wall being placed on both campuses. The donor wall will be placed inside the Faculty Room in the University Park Campus Library and in a Reading room at North Campus Library.
- New Latin American Information Services Librarian Catherine Marsieek starts on October 18,1999. She will also be working in an outreach mode for those in Latin American area studies.
- A new Music Librarian position has been established and is now being recruited.
- David Goldsmith recently was promoted to a new position at the University Park campus as Head of Resource Development supervising both the Acquisitions and Serials departments. He is also coordinating digitizing activities in the Libraries. This is to institutionalize the Libraries capability of dealing with digital materials.
- Patricia lannuzzi at University Park Campus is resigning and taking a position as Associate Director of Libraries at UC/Berkley.
Sherry Crowther at North Campus has left and returned to Canada.
- There is new carpeting at North Campus and during the inconveniences going with the installation, the North Campus community had responded with great patience.
3.) Explanation of Funds: Salvador Miranda
- The budget increased by $154,000. This increase helped to cushion the IO% inflation rate in the price of subscriptions.
- Deadline reminders: February I" for Foreign Imprints March I" for Domestic Imprints.
- Approval Plan continues on the same level as last year and is reviewed yearly to see if any changes need to be made.
- The budget is a carbon copy as last years and Salvador has urged that it be spent quickly. A coordination of funds can be made between departments for extraordinarily expensive items.
4) Head of Resource Development: David Goldsmith
- Online order forms are being refined. A faculty page on the library home page is being created where requests are automatically being categorized. The accounts for faculty will be password protected.
- Communication with book vendors is taking place in order to allow book review and sci- tech database viewing made available through the web.
- Workshops on online ordering are being organized. Please see David Goldsmith for more information.
- A generic online request order form is already online. November IS is a target date to get the new system of online ordering up and running. Notification will be sent via email to all committee members.

The committee recommends Faculty Senate endorsement of "Intellectual Freedom Principles....."

Created in order to control people and done quickly because of outside people causing disturbance. It is on the web and at the service desks.
The committee formally approves the Building use Policy.
9) Reserve Policies and Services: Sherry Carrillo
No major changes. It has incorporated the use of Electronic Reserves. The major change is with the process for copyright compliance and the Libraries' responsibility for following copyright procedures.
The use of items being placed on electronic reserve is increasing by semester.
A few weeks ago a project for scanning slides was begun. It is being scanned onto a reserve module on WebLuis. This is in conjunction with a professor in the Visual Arts
