- OMNI is a project of the University of Nottingham, England, to identify and organize health-related Internet sites. - Full-text health information on diseases and conditions, preventive medicine, drugs, clinical trials, physician and hospital directories, a medical encyclopedia, medical dictionary, plus links to Medline citations. Also available in Spanish.
- Medline User Guides
- Bioethics Databases
- Two databases, ETHX on the Web, and Genetics and Ethics, index journal articles, book chapters, reports, court decisions, news articles, and more. Provided by the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University.
- Cancer.gov
- Links to the National Cancer Institute's PDQ database where you can search for information about cancer treatment, screening, supportive care, and current clinical trials. Also links to CancerLit, a database of citations and abstracts from over 4,000
different sources including biomedical journals, proceedings, books, reports, and doctoral theses.
- CDC Wonder
- Search the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) website for reports, guidelines and public health data.
- CHEM ID PLUS
- This is a chemical dictionary file for over 336,000 compounds of biomedical and regulatory interest. Records include CAS Registry Numbers and other identifying numbers, molecular formulae, generic names, trivial names, other synonyms, and MeSH headings.
- CHID (Combined Health Information Database)
- CHID is an index to government-produced consumer health materials on about 20 health topics. It provides citations and references to these materials and frequently provides a link to a relevant website on the topic. It also contains summaries for some of the materials. It does not provide the full-text of any of the materials.
- CRIS (Current Research Information Service) from the USDA
- CRIS is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed research projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry.
- FAOSTAT -- Food and Agriculture Organization Statistics
- FAOSTAT is an online, multilingual database covering international statistics in: production, trade, food balance sheets, food aid shipments, fertilizer and pesticides, land use and irrigation, forestry products, fishery products and population.
- Hazardous Chemical Database
- Provides chemical name, CAS, EINECS, RTEC, and UN numbers; formula, structure, description, chemical and physical properties, hazards and protection, fire-related info, health-related info, and shipping info.
- Ingenta
- Formerly called UnCover, this database is not specifically for medicine but extremely useful for health. This is an index to more than 27,000 journals in many disciplines. You can search by words in the title of articles or by the name of an author. You can also find the table of contents for a specific issue of a specific journal. It is very up-to-date and is especially useful for checking the tables of contents of journals not available at FIU.
- Johns Hopkins Antibiotic Guide Database
- Searchable by diagnosis, drug, pathogen. Includes a current news section and more in-depth features.
- Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man
- This database is a searchable catalog of human genes and genetic disorders. It contains text, pictures, references, and links to related Medline abstracts.
- OVID Free Database of the Month
- You'll have to register, but it is free. Each month, database provider OVID will make one of their databases available for free searching. Not all of their databases are health-related.
- RxList - The Internet Drug Index
- Information on more than 1,300 drugs including full prescribing information and side effects. Includes a list of the 200 most prescribed drugs. Seachable by drug name, keyword, imprint code, NDC, and medical terminology.
- Sequence Analysis Reference Database
- Searchable database of bibliograpic records (citations to articles and papers, 1995-96) dealing with analysis of biomolecular sequences.
- USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference
- Search by ONE keyword to display all items in the database with that keyword (including brandnames). In the resulting list, click on the product you want. Then select the quantity/weight you want and click on "report" to get the report of nutrient values.
- Vermont SIRI Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Collection and Search Engine
- Material Safety Data Sheets are required by OSHA to be made available by the manufacturer. Each MSDS contains information related to risks and safety requirements for a product. This database is searchable by: manufacurer name (or partial name), CAS number, NSN number, and product name. You can also search for toxicology reports on products by: chemical name, trade name, CAS or RTECS number.

- This site provided by the University of Connecticut Health Center Library
provides access to the biomedical, scientific, and health journal literature
referenced in articles appearing in the New York Times, especially articles that announce
new research findings and refer to current or forthcoming publications. Links to the cited journals
are given when available. Also links to a similar service for articles appearing in the
Minnesota Star. Updated four times per week.
