FIU UP Library's Map collection is housed in the Government Documents Department, which is temporarily located on the 4th floor, but eventually on the 2nd floor after the completion of Library Construction. Except for the maps we receive from USGS, CIA, and other government agencies, a large portion of the maps are donations, which also means we don't have LUIS records for them, although there is a card catalog located down the hallway to the Gov. Docs Department's working office. The map collection, covering a wide range in terms of chronology and contents, is arranged by geographic entities (e.g. continents, countries, states, counties, etc.). The atlases, however, all have LUIS records and are shelved in the same area as maps. For any questions on locating maps and atlases, you can ask the staff at the Gov. Docs. Dept. Reference Desk, or call 348-2481.
FIU UP Library also provides the FIU community with a state-of-art Geographic Information Systems (GIS) laboratory. Please click here for more information on using the lab: GISRSAL
