Information Literacy Advisory Group

Description and Charge

The Information Literacy Advisory Group is comprised of eight faculty members from across the curriculum who work together with librarians to plan the implementation of information literacy education at Florida International University. The Information Literacy Advisory Group works together with the FIU Libraries Information Literacy and Library Instruction Committee to implement the Information Literacy Proposal approved by the Faculty Senate at its November 10, 1998 meeting. The Advisory Group will serve as a conduit for communication between academic departments and the library as we perform the following tasks: The Advisory Group meets approximately three times each semester with the members of the FIU Libraries Information Literacy and Library Instruction Committee. Individual members of the Advisory Group may volunteer to work with librarians on specific information literacy tasks (e.g., draft information literacy competencies). Service to the Advisory Group on Information Literacy is for two academic years.
