Text Chemistry - McMurry/Fay
Caveat Emptor!! Thes sample exams are from a few years back (a short time for me - a long time for you) but they are good way to test your preparation - DO NOT USE THEM FOR A STUDY GUIDE - I promise you, the current test is NOT based on these, I always write a completely new exam, this just covers some of the same topics. Study first, take the sample test, then review the topics on which you feel your performance is weakest. You are responsible to know ALL of the material we have covered not just those topics on these sample tests. I have not had time to edit these old files for any potential typos, it is possible there may be some.
note: sample exam II has no problems on buffers or titrations or solubility - but there are some of thermo so correspondence to the current term is not perfect

Assigned Problems
General advice - work for an A! Don't strive for mediocrity! - do all of the in-text problems as you read - do Not skip past them and read on until you know the concepts - do end-of-chapter problems without referring to the solution manual (if you look you will be cutting your own throat!) if a problen is challenging and you can't set it up refer to the similar problems and topic in the text - re-read the section as many times as is necessary to Understand what the concepts are - if you still have trouble with the problem have a quick glance at the set-up in the solutions manual, for that problem only. A test of that you 'got it' is to work through the problem immediately with the solution manual closed and then an hour or so later again. As rule the solution manual is for confirming that you have done the work correctly. Preparing for a test must begin the first day of class or the first day after any mid-term. Stay up-to-date and begin redoing problems and reviewing terms and concepts at least a week and a half before exam. As a student, I found out that if I did the problems 3 times before an exam I would usually (but not always) get an A. (Yes, my social life took a bit of hit, its up to you whether you want to strive for long-term excellence and the prosperity it brings or short term popularity.)
