Welcome to the website for the Department of International Relations at Florida International University. FIU is a rapidly growing university of approximately 35,000 students whose mandate from the Board of Regents of the State University System of Florida is: "to foster global understanding as a major center of international education for the people of the Americas and the international community." To that end, the Board of Regents established a separate Department of International Relations within the College of Arts and Sciences at FIU. The community that our department serves is multicultural and international. The experience of our students enriches the program by bringing diverse perspectives to discussions inside and outside the classroom. The University's location in Miami - the home of numerous international organizations, corporations, banks, trade associations, and government agencies with close links to Central and South America - offers many opportunities to our students.
