• The U. S. Geological Survey's site on GIS contains a good overview of basic GIS techniques.
• The Environmental System's Research Institute (ESRI) sells GIS services, but also provides a good description and examples of GIS on their website, including a "map museum." ESRI's gis.com website provides further general information and examples.
• NASA's HealthyPlanet website contains excellent examples of GIS data on health and environmental problems.
• USA Today's Census Site offers a wide variety of GIS data based on the 2000 census in the U. S.
• Some examples of student GIS projects are available for viewing.
• The GeoCommunity's GIS Data Depot is a clearinghouse for GIS data on a variety of topics. It also includes a list of GIS job opportunities!
• Another good list of GIS jobs is the GIS Jobs Clearinghouse website.
