Team membership is open to all full-time students and is decided in a manner that ensures discrimination does not occur based on race, sex, national origin, marital status, or age in otherwise qualified students.

High school or junior college student athletes wishing more information about a particular sport should complete a Prospective Student-Athlete Information Form.  For all the information you want about Sports at FIU, please visit the Athletics web page.

The FIU Football program was approved by the Board of Regents at its May 2000 meeting. The Florida Board of Regents (BOR) unanimously approved the establishment of a Division I-AA football program at FIU.  The team will begin intercollegiate competition in the Fall of 2002.
